Before COVID-19 forced companies to move to remote work, most managers were accustomed to placing value on face time at the office, where they could see what their staff was working on and when. Now, work activities are shrouded behind a computer screen, potentially making it more complicated for employees to demonstrate their value.or raise, follow these six key steps.
"Have an answer prepared for how you've made progress on that goal or a good answer for how you will meet it in the future," Halpern said.
If you missed a goal because the pandemic is, for example, affecting your ability to meet with clients, address how you've worked through these challenges and any changes you've implemented to overcome obstacles, Halpern said. Rather than criticizing the goal, ask your manager, "In light of COVID-19, can we have a conversation about how that goal will be impacted?"
If your manager provides a copy of your review before your meeting, you can gather all your evidence ahead of time, Shoemaker said.
