THE Pahang government has proposed a six-month period to test the effectiveness of new standard operating procedures for mining and exporting bauxite before reopening mining activities in the state. Water, Land and Natural Resources Minister Dr Xavier Jayakumar said this is to test the ability of industry players to comply with all the terms of the SOP and to see the capability of enforcement agencies overseeing the mining and export operations.
