Business as usual DNB TechNave

Right after the Malaysian government announced the new dual network model transition for Digital Nasional Berhad by the end of the year, there have been some changes in the equity stake. In case you didn't know, CelcomDigi has severed its stakes in DNB and Telekom is the latest to terminate its share subscription agreement too.

It may seem like grim news but that's not the case. According to Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil, he said the termination won't affect the 5G network for Malaysians who are using it nor the expansion of it. He also updated the media that the implementation of the 5G network is now 61.7%. The goal is to reach 80% by the end of 2023.

As we reported before, once DNB reaches 80%, the transition from a single wholesale network to a dual network model will begin. On top of that, it has been confirmed that a private entity will overtake DNB after reaching 80% 5G coverage, thus turning it into a private company itself. Fahmi also said a new discussion will start, as the telcos can start afresh since the terms are different now.

A new task force will be formed to monitor the 5G network expansion in Malaysia as well. But how's your 5G experience so far? Let us know in the comments below and do stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
