Keharmonian masyarakat berbilang kaum boleh terjejas dengan perkembangan etnopopulisme, iaitu fahaman yang mengarah kepada pembahagian masyarakat kepada 2 kelompok berdasarkan kaum dan agama.
“Peristiwa 13 Mei memberi peringatan tentang kebenaran peribahasa kalah jadi abu, menang jadi arang, kerana konflik itu merugikan semua kaum, selain menjejaskan imej negara di persada antarabangsa,” katanya. Jelas beliau, politik yang diamalkan mana-mana pihak di negara ini sebaliknya perlu memberi perhatian utama kepada soal perpaduan kaum yang harus dipertingkatkan di Semenanjung Malaysia dan integrasi wilayah yang lebih baik antara Semenanjung, Sabah dan Sarawak.
