MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police on Friday said 50 former members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters have returned to the folds of the law.

PNP chief Benjamin Acorda Jr. witnessed the mass surrender of BIFF members during a ceremony at Camp Brigadier General Salipada K. Pendatun in Parang, Maguindanao del Norte on Thursday.“This event marks a crucial step towards lasting peace and reconciliation in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao,” the PNP said in a statement.

Acorda also presented the livelihood assistance program to the former BIFF combatants during the ceremony.
