San Diego State junior is preparing to make his 19th straight start on defense when SDSU plays Nevada in Saturday evening's Mountain West game
Dez Malone has started 18 straight games at cornerback for San Diego State, the longest active streak along a defensive secondary that includes the most experience of any position on the team. Malone is eager to add another start to the streak on Saturday, when SDSU plays Nevada at Snapdragon Stadium. His mindset when finally becoming a starter — it’s about time.
” U-T: Should some of those pass breakups have been interceptions? Malone: “I got my hands on a couple of balls. I’m a little upset about that. But we’ve still got a long season ahead of us. I plan on getting more. “I definitely dropped a couple. A couple of those breakups are dropped picks. Those are on me, have to do pushups for those. . . . I gamble a lot. It’s never an easy layup for me. I always make like a good effort to grab a pick.
