Around 5,000 people or 1,000 families are expected to be evacuated from their homes in Guinobatan, Albay due to the threat of a Mayon Volcano eruption, Vice Mayor Anne Gemma Ongjoco said Friday.

Interviewed on Dobol B TV, Ongjoco said the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office has advised to evacuate all people within the seven-kilometer radius around the volcano.

Evacuation centers and schools are ready to accommodate the displaced families, according to Ongjoco. Mayon Volcano is currently at Alert Level 3, signifying "increased tendency towards a hazardous eruption."
