Here is the latest on the 49ers ahead of Sunday’s home opener against the Seattle Seahawks.
SANTA CLARA — Here is what we’re learning at 49ers headquarters Wednesday, ahead of practice for Sunday’s home opener against the Seattle Seahawks:Tight end George Kittle remains out of practice because of a groin injury, which kept him out of Sunday’s season-opening loss. He sustained the injury Sept. 5. “He’s made a lot of progress so hopefully we’ll have better luck this week,” coach Kyle Shanahan said.
In a corresponding roster move, defensive end Kemoko Turay is being promoted from the practice squad.Quarterback Trey Lance acknowledged some neck soreness the day after the opener, in which he had 13 carries and endured two sacks. “I felt fine. My neck, honestly, was a little sore,” Lance said. “That was the first thing, because I don’t get hit at all throughout the year. So other guys get to build up and get their necks ready for the season. Other than that, I feel good.”
