Running back Elijah Mitchell will go back on injured reserve with an MCL sprain, but quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is OK after being hit on the knee.
SANTA CLARA — Elijah Mitchell is headed back to the injured reserve list.
Another concern is that McCaffrey came out of the game with “knee irritation” and will be “managed” this week as the 49ers prepare to host the Miami Dolphins Sunday at Levi’s Stadium. Davis-Price, a third-round draft pick from LSU, has 16 carries for 37 yards. He missed time earlier this season with a high ankle sprain. The 49ers rolled the dice with veteran running back depth when they traded Jeff Wilson Jr. to Miami in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick after trading for McCaffrey and getting Mitchell back off I.R.
Defensive tackle Arik Armstead, who practiced for the first time after having been out since Oct. 3 against the Rams, will hopefully practice Wednesday and be assessed as to whether he can play against Miami.
