KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government is only expected to make a statement on the latest issue surrounding the 40% revenue rights after the Sabah Law Society (SLS) files its legal action in relation to the matter.
Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said this when asked to comment on opposition lawmakers’ suit to seek Sabah’s entitlement for the return of 40% of federal revenue from the state.ALSO READ:Yesterday, 12 Pakatan Harapan Members of Parliament and assemblymen filed a claim in the High Court following Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz’s previous statement that Sabah’s 40% entitlement was no longer applicable.
The SLS then subsequently issued a statement on plans to file an application for judicial review on the federal government’s gazetting of the special annual grant of RM125.6mil for the state for 2022-2026.The state government has also previously assured that it will continue to pursue the 40% rights despite the increase of the special grant.
