KUALA LUMPUR: Forty people were remanded while eight others were issued compounds for violating the recovery movement control order (MCO) on Friday, says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.“Among the offences committed were being involved in reflexology or massages and not practising social distancing.

“The compliance operation task force performed 67,004 checks nationwide involving 16,675 personnel on Friday,” he said in a statement yesterday.

“The police conducted 69 roadblocks nationwide and checked 34,275 vehicles to curb the entry of illegal immigrants into the country, especially those using ‘lorong tikus’ . Ops Benteng, which involved various agencies, including the Armed Forces, the police and Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, would be continued to strengthen the security at borders and entry points, he added.

He added that 278 of them were ordered to quarantine themselves at home while three others were sent to hospital.
