SABAH will not relent in its efforts to get 40 per cent of the State’s tax revenue from the Federal Government, assured Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

.“Personally, I would also like to get more , but in terms of managing the country, there are so many things to be considered. However, this does not mean Sabah does not want assistance or a more significant allocation. “We do need it more and in the context of the 40 per cent claim for Sabah, we will continue to demand and negotiate with the Federal Government about it,” he said when asked about the complaints from netizens that the new amount of the special grant was insufficient for Sabah.

The Federal Government had increased the special grant for Sabah to RM126 million this year compared to only RM26 million over the past decades. On the National 2023 Budget, Hajiji reiterated that it was designed to expedite the nation’s economic recovery in the post-pandemic era. “Firstly, I want to congratulate the Finance Minister and the Federal Government for tabling a Budget that is inclusive that benefits all segments of the Malaysian Family,” he said.

Gabungan Rakyat Sabah backs Max: Hajiji | Daily Express Online - Sabah's Leading News PortalGabungan Rakyat Sabah backs Max: Hajiji | Daily Express Online - Sabah's Leading News PortalChief Minister Datuk Seri Haji Hajiji Haji Noor said Bersatu Kota Marudu remains intact despite the departure of its head Datuk Wetrom Bahanda.  “As the leader of Bersatu Sabah (PPBM) I would like to make it clear that even though the head of Bersatu Kota Marudu has ditched the party, Bersatu is here to stay in Kota Marudu.  “We will continue to support Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) candidate Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili for Kota Marudu MP,” he said at the Jelajah GRS Kota Marudu, Sunday (pic).  “We should not make a miscalculation in politics. I understand Parti Warisan is fishing especially during the elections. We know their intentions…they do not walk, just talk.  “What have they done in two years and half as government of Sabah? They have no direction other than politicking without any regards to the interests of the multi-racial people in the State,” he said.  According to him, the leadership of Dr Maximus who is Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) President is still very much needed by the people here.  “He has done so much for Kota Marudu. If there are certain people or opposition claiming that there is no development in Kota Marudu, this we cannot accept. It is a total blatant lie.  “We can see for ourselves that Kota Marudu has undergone a major transformation ever since he (Dr Maximus) became the Member of Parliament and a Federal Minister,” he said.  Hajiji who is chairman of GRS said Dr Maximus is well-respected by Federal leaders as he is a leader who had been fighting for Sabah’s rights from the very beginning and now as Minister in charge of Sabah and Sarawak affairs, he continued the struggle in the MA63 special council
