In an interview with Awards Radar, Lowney discussed some ideas for a Ted Lasso spinoff — including one that would allow Sudeikis to reprise his role. Lowney, who directed several Ted Lasso episodes, including the season 3 finale, mentioned the chances of a spinoff focused on Keeley and Rebecca as they create a Richmond women's football team. Another possibility Lowney brings up is a spinoff centered around Roy and Coach Beard .
“I think the most exciting one was Keeley’s pitch to Rebecca to create a Richmond women’s football team. We’ve seen captain Roy take over and we’ve seen Coach Beard get married and stay in England probably. So there’s potential there for spin offs. And then you’ve got Ted coaching a football league back in Kansas, so there is a potential spin off there. If they want to do more, I’d be well up for it. But I don’t think that’s gonna happen for a while.
Which Ted Lasso Spinoff Would Work Best? Ted Lasso is Apple's biggest hit show, with merchandise and a reliable presence on the streaming charts. Part of the calculation of Apple TV+, and others involved with the series, is how to keep it going in a way that would retain or build on previous viewership. Another consideration is whether Sudeikis might still return as the titular Ted, in a recurring or cameo capacity.
The easiest answer is that Apple TV+ should not try to dilute Ted Lasso by creating too many spinoffs. One show, which splits time between Keeley and Rebecca on one side, and Roy Kent on the other, would be a good way to test the viability of the premise. Sudeikis was essentially more of a supporting character in Ted Lasso season 3, making it easier to picture the world without him.Lowney, like several others in the Ted Lasso cast and crew, cautions that a spinoff is a long way from happening.
