An inmate died Saturday afternoon in the Lee County Detention Center. Sheriff Jay Jones on Sunday identified the inmate Korey Scott Smith. He was 36 and lived in Notasulga.

Smith was booked into the jail Oct. 5, 2022, by Opelika police on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
