, which will set up near the intersection of Burnet and Live Oak streets, will replace an empty triangular lot bordered by Brooklyn Avenue with an open-air, three-story mixed-used food park that includes space for live entertainment, drinks, dining and food trucks.
Initially pitched as a smaller food truck park in 2013, Brooklyn StrEat Food Park will begin construction in February and is expected to be completed by summer, according to aMike Sutter’s Top 10 taco places in San Antonio Joe Guerrero, one of three partners in the development group StrEat Park LLC,, told the Express-News that further delays to the project were caused by the pandemic.
“COVID really pumped the breaks on it,” Guerrero said. “Now that we feel that things are coming back to where they should be, we feel that it’s something the area could use, and we look forward to opening it up and making it a really beautiful open space comparable to the Pearl and what’s in San Antonio now.”
After nine years of anticipation, a three-story live music and food venue near the Hays Street Bridge on the East Side is inching toward reality.The $2.5 million project on 201 Burnet St. is just south of the Hays Street Bridge, near Alamo Brewery.
