The Jaguars officially concluded a winless preseason, but one receiver strengthened his case for a berth on the roster.
Entering his second year, Jones has an uphil battle considering the depth and experience the team has at wide receiver. Jones sat during the second half, having shown the coaching staff all they needed to see.
Shenault, who was second on the team in receiving yards in 2021 , offers the team some versatility on offense, but hasn't been able to make the most of his opportunities as a punt returner. For McCourt, he was claimed just prior to the team taking off to Flowery Branch on Tuesday night. He was able to make it in time to get in on the action Thursday, connecting on all eight of his kicks.
It was Lloyd's first action of the preseason, giving him an opportunity to earn more playing time as the team starts the regular season Sept. 11 against the Washington Commanders. The Jaguars opened the game on a positive note as third-year safety Daniel Thomas picked off Falcons QB Desmond Ridder. In all, the first half was a positive one for the Jacksonville defense, forcing Atlanta to punt three times while forcing an interception. In five drives during the first half, Atlanta's best was its second, going 75 yards on 15 plays and scoring a touchdown.
