Menteri Sains, Teknologi dan Inovasi Khairy Jamaluddin berkata kerjasama itu bertujuan memastikan Malaysia berada di kedudukan terbaik untuk mendapat akses kepada pembangunan vaksin Covid-19 serta mampu terus mendapatkan vaksin itu apabila ia siap dihasilkan. Khairy berkata, mesyuarat hari ini juga membuat keputusan untuk menggunakan pendekatan ‘berdasarkan diplomasi sains’ dalam mendapatkan vaksin Covid-19.
