Gasoline price locally and across the nation fell for the 14th consecutive week, reaching a long-awaited milestone in Houston.
Gasoline averaged $3 a gallon in the Houston area, falling another five cents over the past week and 41 cents over the month, according to the fuel-price tracking service GasBuddy. Prices are 28 cents a gallon higher that a year ago.Nationally, gasoline prices declined 4 cents to an average $3.64 a gallon, down 26 cents from a month ago, but 46 cents higher than a year ago, according to GasBuddy.
Gasoline has largely followed crude prices, which have fallen more than 30 percent since peaking above $120 a barrel after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Crude was trading lower early Monday morning, down nearly 2 percent to $83.56. Fears of global recession and subsequent drop in demand have driving oil markets lower recently.
