weekend police chase ended in a crashJust after 10 p.m. Saturday, Garland police tried to stop a Tahoe they believed was involved in a string of robberies across multiple cities, including Arlington, Dallas, Duncanville, Garland, Grand Prairie, Hutchins, Mesquite and Pantego.
The pursuit began in Garland and ended with the vehicle crashing in the 12200 block of Greenville Avenue in Dallas’ Lake Highlands neighborhood. According to police, three of the five people in the vehicle were taken to the hospital. One of those passengers, a 16-year-old who has not been publicly identified, later died.Officers searching the Tahoe found three AR-15 pistols and two handguns, all of which were loaded.
The driver of the vehicle, Joey Williams Jarvis of Dallas, was arrested shortly after the crash on charges of evading arrest causing serious bodily injury and engaging in organized criminal activity. One of the evading charges was enhanced to murder after the passenger’s death, police said Tuesday. Both men were booked into the Garland jail, and it was unclear whether they had attorneys.
