KOTA KINABALU: A man slapped his wife, threatened to chop her with an axe and burn down their home after she could not buy him a car.

The 26-year-old was arrested by police after his 45-year-old wife made a report Monday four days after the incident at their home in Kg Sapagaya Hilir in Lahad Datu at about 6pm on Thursday .

He said the initial investigations showed that her 26-year-old Indonesian husband had confronted his wife, a teacher, when she returned home after picking up her children from school.
