National Bravery Awards have been given to 26 people who risked their own lives to help others.

The presentations were made by Ceann Comhairle Seán Ó Fearghaíl at Farmleigh House in Dublin.

The 26 receipients were from counties Wexford, Kildare, Laois, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Mayo, Meath, Wicklow, Donegal and Dublin.Last December, when he was aged nine, he was a passenger in his mother's car when it hit black ice and crashed. Information provided by Mr Doran helped gardaí to arrest the man, who was subsequently convicted and imprisioned.
