Minister Yeo Bee Yin says company will be charged, and waste sent back to country of origin.
The Energy, Science, Technology, Climate Change and Environment Ministry has uncovered a company smuggling prohibited plastic waste into the country through shipping containers by making false declarations.
“The containers are declared containing clean used-plastic, but actually they contain dirty plastic. According to regulations, only clean used-plastic is allowed to be imported into the country for recycling. It is learnt that 24 containers, believed to be from Spain, were found to contain dirty plastic waste at the port.
