CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro: The massive oil spill in the province continues to wreak havoc to residents here as the city government placed 23 coastal villages under a state of calamity.
In a post on her social media page on Saturday March 25, 2023, Mayor Malou Morillo said that the city government is 'placing 23 barangay under a state of calamity after the oil spill from the sunken MT Princess Empress reached the locality last week.
'Quoting City Administrator Reymund Al Ussam, Morillo said the declaration is contained in a resolution passed by the city council on Wednesday 'to effectively respond to the economic and ecological effects of the disaster'>Under a state of calamity are: Balite, Calero, Canubing 1, Gutad, Ibaba East, Ibaba West, Lazareto, Mahal na Pangaln, Maidlang, Masipit, Nag-Iba 1, Nag-Iba 2, Navotas, Pachoca, Parang, Salong, San Antonio, Silonay, Suqui, Tawagan, Tibag and Wawa.
