KUALA LUMPUR, March 13 – The Education Ministry has instructed 34 schools in Pasir Gudang to shut down indefinitely due to the emission of toxic fumes from waste illegally dumped into a river. It’s minister Maszlee Malek said in a press statement that the situation has turned critical and the shutdown was necessary to avoid further harm to the students.“Unfortunately today the situation is even more critical. I have instructed 34 schools around Pasir Gudang to be closed immediately today to avoid any unwanted events from happening to the students.

Yesterday, 260 people were treated for methane poisoning after breathing in the fumes from the toxic waste including students from Sekolah Kebangsaan Tanjung Puteri Resort and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tanjung Puteri Resort which were among those closed today.2.
