The Road Transport Department (JPJ) seized 21 commercial vehicles nationwide for safety violations, including invalid licenses, unregistered vehicles, and using licenses from different companies. The operation targeted vehicles that violated safety standards even after Puspakom approval.

PETALING JAYA: A total of 21 commercial vehicles were seized in a nationwide crackdown on safety violations including invalid or expired licenses and insurance, unregistered vehicles, and even the use of licenses belonging to different companies. The Road Transport Department ( JPJ ) operation on 37 Puspakom centres sought commercial vehicles that violate safety standards even after Puspakom approval, said director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli.

'Among the vehicles seized, the department found a lorry approved by Puspakom which did not comply with the safety standards and was seized under Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 to prevent further offences'Aedy said in a statement on Monday (Jan 12). 'Following this, we launched a strategic cooperation with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for cases involving deviation from decisions made after checking at Puspakom. Aedy said the enforcement action was taken to ensure the safety of commercial vehicles before, after and regular checks at Puspakom and it will continue with the cooperation of other agencies. 'The efforts are in line with JPJ's commitment to ensure the safety of road users and minimise accidents and death due to road tragedies involving commercial vehicles,' it added.
