Connecticut Sun teammates DeWanna Bonner and Alyssa Thomas are normally partners on and off the court, but their love story will be on hold when they go head-to-head at this year's WNBA All-Star Game. The format of the game on July 20 pits the Team USA squad headed to the Paris Olympics against a group of WNBA All-Stars who were not selected to the team.
” The All-Star break also brings up great memories for the couple, as Thomas proposed to Bonner over All-Star weekend in 2023. The two have been teammates since 2020, when Bonner was traded from the Phoenix Mercury to the Connecticut Sun. Thomas was drafted by the New York Liberty in 2014 and traded to the Sun on draft day. Bonner told Slam they almost went head-to-head while playing overseas during the WNBA offseason, but an injury to Bonner prevented it.
