Leslie Jordan and Tracee Ellis Ross were given the honor of announcing this year's noms in all 23 categories, starting nice and early at 5:18am PT. The two were joined by a few special guests, including Phylicia Rashad and students from the Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts, health care workers and more.
Kristen Stewart landed the first nomination of her career for her work in"Spencer" -- the film's sole nom. Her nom was a delightful surprise, as she had been previously shut out of the Screen Actors Guild Award and BAFTA Award nominations. Nearly everyone in the Supporting Actor nomination was a first-timer, aside from J.K. Simmons, who previously won for"Whiplash" in 2014. The same went for the Supporting Actress category, where Judi Dench was the only return nominee -- landing the eighth nomination of her career and third in that same category.The MCU landed two nominations for"Spider-Man: No Way Home" and"Shang-Chi," thanks to their visual effects.
