We look at some of the features designed to make the 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz easier and safer to drive.
For this driver, easy and intuitive are appreciated—like putting the drive mode toggle switch right below the gearshift so it's easy to find and to use. This control is neighbors with the camera button, so you can see behind the vehicle even when going forward or in park .The other function a driver wants to be able to use seamlessly is cruise control.
The system doesn't keep the vehicle as perfectly centered as some systems we've used—there's a bit of pinging from side to side in the lane—but the Santa Cruz has thus far never crossed the line.Another interesting feature happens when you're stopped—whether for a light or traffic—and the car in front of you pulls forward but you didn't notice because your attention was elsewhere.
Fortunately for Markus, the warning can be turned off with the steering wheel controls—or you can keep it on but change the volume and timing of the warning.
