Stitching together nearly 20 performers including Carrie Underwood, Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, Sara Evans, Martina McBride, and Jennifer Nettles, the nine-minute opener was a nice overview of the monumental, earth-shifting contributions women have made to country music, with each truncated section afforded the proper reverence even when the combinations were unlikely .
