Because 'incredibly rare' doesn't always equal 'incredibly valuable.'

When I'm looking for interesting examples of automotive history in car graveyards, I always peer inside passenger compartments looking for two things: odometers with extremely high final readings and manual transmissions in unexpected vehicles. That's what we've got today: one of the microscopically tiny number of Toyota Camrys to be sold with three pedals in the United States after the early 2000s.

As you can see on this page from the 2007 Camry brochure, the manual transmission was available on four-cylinder Camrys with the CE, LE, and SE trim levels. If you wanted an automatic on those cars, you had to spend an extra $1050 or $1000 . That comes to about $1597 and $1521, respectively, after inflation. It seems that most Classic Edition Toyotas of this era were bought by rental fleets, but no fleet buyer wants vehicles that few drivers can operate.
