Strange Planet REALLY likes cats.
The beings who populate Nathan W. Pyle's Strange Planet are inherently cheerful beings, but there are few things that bring them more pleasure than their feline companions. Humor comics have a long history with cats, from Far Side's beleagured pets to Garfield's lasagna-loving star, and Strange Planet is no different, with a host of strips that celebrate their feline subjects.
18 Mighty Hunter Another shot across the bow of its reader, this Strange Planet suffers from the surprising reveal that the beings apparently have violent videogames - something that definitely seems against their character. However, the strip does exemplify the comic's pitch-perfect use of color, as the shift from blue to pink underlines the joke by visually calling back to the laser - in a comic that uses three or four colors, that's a commendable trick to pull off.
14 It Obeys Only Itself As a quote, "it obeys only itself" is basically the tagline for cats. In this strip, the two beings attempt to stop their cat drinking from their glass of water, only to be shocked when it pushes the empty receptacle to the floor.
9 You Knowingly Invite Destruction Of course, indifference is preferable to outright attack, as in this strip. However, the suffering being is quick to admit that it was given adequate warning to keep its hands to itself.
