Three women, aged between 43 and 49, were arrested for stealing items worth more than $500 from a Jurong East department store and are believed to be involved in several cases of theft in dwelling. The police received a report of theft at the department on May 15 at about 3.55pm.

Retailers are strongly urged to take action to prevent shop theft and reduce losses by adopting the following measures: Adopt a service approach towards loss prevention. Should staff detect suspicious persons in the shop, they should engage them pro-actively to provide more personalised attention. This would likely deter would-be thieves, while genuine shoppers would appreciate the good service.
