Two people killed in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks were identified this week by authorities through “ongoing DNA analysis,” according to a statement.
Two people killed in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks were identified this week by authorities, providing some closure for the victims’ families who had waited nearly two decades for answers.
A worker polishes the bronze parapets surrounding the twin memorial pools where the names of the men, women and children killed in the 9/11 attacks are inscribed in New York on Tuesday.
“No matter how much time passes since September 11, 2001, we will never forget, and we pledge to use all the tools at our disposal to make sure all those who were lost can be reunited with their families,” the statement said. The identifications of Morgan and the man whose name was not made public are the first new identifications of World Trade Center victims since October 2019, officials said. About 40 percent of victims, or 1,106 people, remain unidentified, authorities said.
