'That's what I'm here for. If I can make somebody smile, it's great.'
Two Lancaster County men are getting a lot of attention. The pair interacts with hundreds of people every day, but most of them are strangers. In a complicated world, it seems like a small gesture but it is making a big difference. Tony and Randy have been sitting along Strasburg Pike in Lancaster County for more than a year now. What started as a simple nod to a stranger has turned into a daily event that the pair looks forward to.
These days, passersby stop in, offering decorations, gift cards and food. 'He gets pies, I get donuts,' Randy said. 'They want to take selfies with me. That's the part I like,' Tony said. But it's the messages of gratitude that mean the most. 'That's what they say when they stop in, you don't know how much you make our day,' Randy said. 'I had a state trooper come by here, told me I made his morning, you know,' Tony said.
