The driver of an SUV who struck and killed a man riding a bicycle in Salt Lake City early Sunday has surrendered to police.

According to the Salt Lake City Police Department, the 19-year-old man turned himself in. Police provided no other information about the driver.was reported shortly after 4:30 a.m. on Sunday. When officers arrived at 755 S. Redwood Road, they found an injured, 59-year-old man on the ground. Despite life-saving efforts, he died at the scene.
The 19-year-old hit the victim, whose name has not been released, and drove away without stopping, police said. After the suspect contacted police, they located the SUV he was driving. According to a tweet from Salt Lake police, detectives are working with prosecutors “to file the appropriate charges.”
