Rescue operations are underway at the accident site after a Saurya Airlines plane crashed during takeoff at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu on July 24. At least 18 people were killed in the accident. Eighteen bodies have been recovered from the crash site while flight pilot Manish Maskey has been hospitalized, said a press statement issued by the Civil Aviation Authority ofThe ill-fated plane belonged to Saurya Airlines, a private domestic airline that started operations in November 2023. Authorities have closed the airport to help rescue operations, and dozens of international flights to Kathmandu have been diverted while domestic flights are kept on hold at their origin airports.
