Netflix’s live-action One Piece trailer has been released, revealing a first look at Luffy, his Straw Hat crew, and many other characters.
Netflix’s first live-action One Piece trailer reveals multiple characters, ships, and locations from the highly popular One Piece manga. Netflix’s upcoming One Piece show has the difficult mission of adapting one of the most popular manga/anime properties of all time, yet the first trailer is a lot promising. It may be too early to say whether Netflix’s One Piece will break the live-action adaptation curse, but the One Piece trailer teases an accurate take on the story.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT 17 Windmill Village Windmill Village, also known as Foosha Village, appears at the beginning of the One Piece trailer. The Windmill Village is the starting point of Monkey D. Luffy’s journey and where One Piece’s story chronologically begins. This One Piece location is particularly important for the Luffy flashbacks, which were many during One Piece’s first saga.
14 Monkey D. Luffy Monkey D. Luffy, one of the most iconic shonen protagonists of all time, makes his live-action debut in the Netflix One Piece trailer. Monkey D. Luffy is played by Iñaki Godoy in the One Piece live-action adaptation. Luffy is among the most charismatic and engaging manga leads ever created, and most of his personality traits appear as early as in One Piece chapter 1.
11 Roronoa Zoro Roronoa Zoro, one of One Piece’s lead characters and the first person to join Luffy’s Straw Hats crew appears in Netflix’s live-action One Piece trailer. Roronoa Zoro is played by J.J. Jr. Mackenyu in the live-action One Piece series. Luffy encounters Zoro as a prisoner and helps him escape, creating a bond and a partnership that would change the course of their lives.
8 Nami Nami, one of One Piece’s lead characters and the second person to join Luffy’s crew appears in the first One Piece trailer. While Nami appears in the first One Piece episode, she only joins Luffy’s crew in the second arc, the Orange Town arc. Nami has her own goals and is not a fan of pirates, which creates an interesting dynamic between her and Luffy. That said, Nami, who joins the Straw Hats as their navigator, is very much a pirate of her own.
5 Garp's Ship Garp does not appear in the One Piece trailer, but Garp’s ship is briefly seen firing a cannon. Garp only makes his One Piece debut in chapter 92 or episode 68, so it is interesting to see his ship in Netflix’s One Piece trailer. Gars’ unnamed ship is designed after a dog living in a dog house, which makes it easily recognizable.
