15-year-old boy killed, girl injured in drive-by shooting near Central and Thomas Road

BREAKING UPDATE: A 15-year-old boy has died after a drive-by shooting Friday near Central and Thomas Road. A young girl also suffered non-life-threatening injuries. A suspect has not been caught. abc15

Just after 4:30 p.m., police were called to the area of 1st Avenue and Thomas Road for reports of a drive-by shooting.

Officials say a vehicle with multiple people inside was driving through a parking lot when another vehicle drove past and opened fire.A child, walking nearby with an adult when the shooting happened, was also injured by gunfire. That child was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.Police say multiple businesses in the area were also hit by gunfire, and the entire crime scene spanned almost four city blocks.
