142 photographs, including images of the child in diapers, were presented in court during the trial of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matin's parents, who are accused of neglecting the six-year-old autistic child. The photos were shown to the court as part of the prosecution's case, and they depict the victim's injuries and belongings. The accused, Zaim Ikhwan Zahari and his wife Ismanira Abdul Manaf, were visibly emotional when the photographs were presented.
A total of 142 photographs related to the case of Allahyarham Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matin, including images of the child when he was wearing diapers, were presented in the Sessions Court today during the hearing of the child neglect case against the autistic child 's parents.
Detektif Koperal Mohamad Hirwan Arifin, a 45-year-old photographer from the Petaling Jaya Police District (IPD) Headquarters, also confirmed the photographs of the victim, who sustained injuries in several parts of his body, and his belongings. When the first prosecution witness was referred to the photographs related to the victim by Deputy Public Prosecutor Kamarul Iman Ahmad Sapian, both accused, Zaim Ikhwan Zahari and his wife Ismanira Abdul Manaf, were seen crying and sobbing from the dock. After several minutes, the proceedings continued, and when recounting his duties during the investigation, Mohamad Hirwan stated that on December 7, 2023, he received instructions from investigating officer ASP Mohd Hafizee Ismail to take photographs of the victim's postmortem examination at Sungai Buloh Hospital. The first prosecution witness said the postmortem photographs were related to the police report filed in Kota Damansara regarding the Missing Person (OH) case. The witness also explained that on December 8, 2023, he received instructions from another investigating officer, Insp Nina Syamimi Syamsuddin, to go to the crime scene at Apartment Idaman, Damansara Damai, to take photographs related to the OH case. Mohamad Hirwan also presented photographs at the crime scene, including Block R Apartment Idaman, the storage room, the outer door of the victim's house, and the location of the staircase. On December 13, 2023, he said that Mohd Hafizee had instructed him to take photographs of the victim's blue, red, yellow, and white bag with the letter 'S' in the center, as well as a small blue and red bag with a cartoon picture and a green water bottle. On January 21, Zaim Ikhwan and Ismanira filed a motion in the Shah Alam High Court to strike out the charges against them and requested that they be released and acquitted immediately from the charges, which did not disclose any offense under Section 31 of the Child Act 2001. On June 13, 2024, Zaim Ikhwan and Ismanira, both aged 30, pleaded not guilty in the Petaling Jaya Sessions Court to a charge of neglecting the six-year-old autistic child, by possibly causing physical injury to him around Jalan PJU Damansara Damai here on December 5, 2023, from 12 noon to 9.55 pm, December 6, 2023. The charge was filed under Section 31 (1) (a) of the Child Act 2001 and can be punished under Section 31 (1) of the same act, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code, which provides a maximum fine of RM50,000 or imprisonment for not more than 20 years or both, if found guilty. On December 6, 2023, Zayn Rayyan's body was found in a tributary near his home at Apartment Idaman, Damansara Damai, near here, after being reported missing the day before. The child was believed to have been murdered as the postmortem examination found injuries on his neck and body due to self-defense
