Forecasters say many areas of the state are expected to get 2 to 4 inches of rain, with some isolated pockets of 6 to 8 inches possible.
While those huge rain totals are not expected to be widespread, some towns could face that much rain by Saturday morning.
If flooding becomes an imminent threat, the flood watch will be upgraded to a flood warning or a flash flood warning.
