Public money used to clean up well sites has been met with praise from some and criticism from others.

Exactly what proportion is not known, as the release does not offer figures for how many such wells exist on First Nations lands in Saskatchewan or how many will be “addressed.” It does say that as of July 31, $17 million in “site closure work on Reserve lands has been completed or is underway.” This includes 320 well abandonments and 189 site “reclamation and remediation activities.”Article content
