Some Pokémon types don’t make sense.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Over the years and generations of Pokémon's history, there have been over 1,000 pocket monsters created or discovered and researched, but some of the Pokémon are left with type classifications that don't really make sense. Types provide stats and attacks to the Pokémon and signify general weaknesses and strengths in combat.
9 Florges At first glance, Florges clearly looks to be a giant flower. Designated as a Fairy-type, the general appearance of Florges suggests that it should also be included as a Grass-type, perhaps with a dual classification. Lower evolutions of Floette and Flabébé show that it was at that time a separate fairy-like creature that held a flower close to it, which makes more sense being a Fairy-type.
7 Foongus Foongus and its evolved Amoongus are dual Grass and Poison-type Pokémon that have the appearance of mushrooms. Mushrooms are not plants but rather are a type of fungi, unique in their characteristics from either plants or animals. As such, listing Foongus and Amoongus as Grass-type is not only incorrect but could lead to some confusion in younger generations about what a mushroom is.
5 Charizard A longtime common complaint has been the fact that Charizard is not a Dragon-type, as by his appearance, he is arguably the most dragon-like creature in the entire series. This Fire/Flying-type Pokémon is said to have been blocked from being a Dragon due to balance reasons, as having the statistics of Dragon-type added to it would make it a much more difficult opponent.
