The second installment in Disney's Frozen franchise might've deepened the lore, but it also left viewers with more questions they simply can't let go.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Despite its defining snow-laden setting, Frozen 3 needs to answer several burning questions. The Walt Disney Company confirmed that the storm will rage on in the third installment of the ultra-popular franchise. Although 2019's Frozen 2 wasn't the same level of runaway success as its predecessor, the animated stories of sisters Elsa and Anna remain worldwide phenomena.
Like Anna, the public seems taken with Hans before he reveals his true intentions. Somehow, he's even put in charge of the kingdom during Anna and Elsa's prolonged absence. While the sisters' relationship is still fraught with misunderstandings and unintentional hurt, Hans provides them with the opportunity to illustrate their love for each other. Unlike other Disney villains, Hans doesn't conveniently fall from a great height or otherwise meet his demise.
This explains why Anna doesn't have powers in the Frozen universe. Elsa's ice-bending isn't passed down from her mother — who is revealed to be a member of the Northuldra people — so Anna may never have powers. Still, given the fact that this explanation is shoehorned into Frozen 2, it stands to reason that Frozen 3 may delve more into the mystical elements of Anna and Elsa's world.
Midway through the film, Elsa strikes Anna with her ice magic and Kristoff explains that the trolls can help. When Anna asks him why he knows that, he says it's because he's "seen them do it before" — to Anna. Kristoff must recognize Anna and Elsa as the sisters from that night, especially given that their parents were royalty. Even so, he hides this information from her.
The connections Kristoff has with his found families — both Anna and Elsa and the trolls— are sweet, but it would also be interesting to learn more about his biological parents. As the world of Frozen expands and deepens, it opens up a great opportunity to investigate where Kristoff and Sven are from.
