1 injured, labour quarters in oil palm estate gutted in fire

AN oil palm plantation in Balingian, 75km from Mukah, suffered burns on his hands in an attempt to extinguish a fire that engulfed a block of workers’ quarters last night.

The man, known as Hendry Sigar, failed to save the block occupied by 25 workers from 12 families from being destroyed in the 11.22pm incident, Mukah Fire and Rescue Station chief Azman Hanapis said today.
