Update: 1 critically injured, multiple shot in gunfire at South Dallas event venue
Revised at 9:49 a.m. with additional information.One person was seriously injured and several others were wounded following a shooting early Sunday outside a party venue in South Dallas, police said.
Officers responded about midnight to The Space Dallas, in the 5200 block of Botham Jean Boulevard, to reports of a shooting, Dallas police said.that 10 people had been shot and injured. Dallas Fire-Rescue told WFAA crews took four people to hospitals. One person was reportedly in critical condition, police said Sunday afternoon. The conditions of the other victims were not known.About a city block of Botham Jean Boulevard was taped off Sunday around the venue. More than 70 police markers indicating evidence and shell casings were scattered throughout the area, among police cars and uniformed officers.
The venue’s capacity is about 500, an officer said. But people in the neighborhood said the street would often be lined with cars, and patrons would be spilling out of the building during a party.Staff writer Krista Torralva contributed to this report..
