PKR vice-president Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari warns against the perceived popularity of extreme politics, urging Pakatan Harapan to steer clear and maintain its principles.

JOHOR BARU: Pakatan Harapan must steer clear of seemingly popular extreme politics and remain true to its principles, says Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari. The PKR vice-president said such an approach, often used by the opposition, was no longer accepted by the people, and Pakatan need not follow such a path.

“Today, our political opponents and several parties are uncomfortable with the multiculturalism and multiracial politics that form the foundation of Pakatan. “We should not feel worried or anxious because this kind of political game will not lead us anywhere. “Just look at what happened in the United States where, after winning for the second time, President Donald Trump continues to see a decline in support, proving that far-right and extremist politics may appear popular, but will not last,” he said.

Amirudin, who is also Selangor Mentri Besar, said this in his speech during the Pakatan convention at Persada International Convention Centre here on Sunday .

“The Budi95 initiative has proven that although it may not be populist, it has succeeded in providing stability for the rakyat. “The savings made by the government through the initiative were channelled back to the people through assistance such as Sumbangan Asas Rahmah , Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah and others,” he said. Amirudin added that the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim showed that the Madani government was ready for a second term in administration.
